My adventure in the startup world began with a computer, a VAT number and a great desire to build something big. The decisive leap came when I joined Mashape. About this time, I met Fabrizio Capobianco and Alberto Onetti. We found ourselves in the right place at the right time. We were not the first Italians to seek success in Silicon Valley, but we were among the first to get people talking about us. Shortly after the funding round, the Italian media started to show an interest, also due to the controversy about how young people have to “invent their own work”. From there it was an incredible journey, which taught me what it really takes to make startups: perseverance, vision and, above all, the courage to dare.
