Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost achieved the first successful commercial lunar landing.
During its 60-day mission, Blue Ghost will deploy NASA-commissioned instruments, including PlanetVac for capturing lunar dust and the LEXI telescope for X-ray images of Earth’s magnetosphere. This data will help understand Earth’s magnetic field protection. The shadow of Blue Ghost is visible on the lunar surface, with Earth over the horizon. Future Blue Ghost missions aim to support NASA’s Artemis program, with Artemis III set to land humans on the Moon in 2027.
